Small Dice

Take a good sharp knife and cutting board. Then the first thing you need to do is cut off the hard woody root of the onion. This is the point that holds together all the layers of the onion. This is the main thing you need to learn because this is the key part of all the cutting techniques. So, cut the onion straight from the middle of the stem towards the root and then peel off the hardened layers of the onion nicely. Put the flat side on the cutting board and cut it horizontally with careful strokes. Hold the onion firmly and then cut vertically. Then again, cut from the opposite side with the symmetrical mindset to get same-sized cubes.


Mincing is the smallest cut( cut as small as possible without making it mash). For those foods you want to make flavor penetrate, you will need to add minced onions. For mincing, you have to follow the same procedure as you did for small dice and just cut it as small as you can.


Take the knife that you are most comfortable with. Cut off the ard root end and stem, peel off the onion and cut it from the middle to make them half. Place it on the cutting board and hold it firmly. Start cutting from one side making angled cuts to desired thickness.

Please take a good sharp knife, trim both ends of the onions and peel it off. Place it on the cutting bold and hold it firmly. Start cutting from one side, making the angled cuts for the thickness you want. Then separate these circled shape onions into rings with your hands.
